Showcasing our climate health work

Darcy was excited to represent our Climate Adaptation group at two recent health-focused research gatherings in Christchurch. She gave a presentation on how climate change will impact primary healthcare access at Taiao. Tangata. Hauora. Climate Health and Sustainable Healthcare in Aotearoa Conference 2025. And, she presented a poster of her findings at the Health Research Society of Canterbury’s Poster Expo. Her findings suggest that walkability to the nearest clinic may not necessarily translate to ‘good’ access, and the growing need for longer appointment times may be more disruptive than major floods or migration. Feedback was positive, with both events highlighting our group’s unique contribution to the climate health space.

Both events provided exposure to more health-focused research. And there were excellent conversations with practitioners about their real-world experiences with healthcare access issues. We look forward to future conversations and collaboration!
